The RTPI is promoting #WTPD2016 throughout the day on Twitter using its @RTPIPlanners and @internatRTPI accounts.

The annual online global conference is being broadcast live on Twitter via @WTPDonlineConf.

Themes of the conference include housing, sustainable development, healthy communities and economic development.

Sessions will discuss local responses to climate change, planning reform in Ireland, developing flood-prone areas and urban resillience.

To see a full list of session and to register for them, visit the World Town Planning Day website.

Events are also being held in Chelmsford, London, Belfast and Edinburgh through the day, including at three RTPI accredited universities – Anglia Ruskin, University College London and Ulster University.

On 9 and 10 November, RTPI London, RTPI South East Scotland and Scottish Young Planners Network are holding evening sessions.

More information can be found on the RTPI website.

In October, Habitat III, the UN conference on Housing and Sustainable Development, took place in Quito, Ecuador, with RTPI representatives in attendance.

The RTPI, the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Institution of Structural Engineers have joined together to form the UK’s first advisory group on built environment issues within a global humanitarian context. It was launched at Habitat III.
