West Cumbria homes get green light

the laureates cumbria

Plans for a £40 million housing development in West Cumbria have been given the go-ahead.

Lovell’s 217-home scheme in Cockermouth, approved by Allerdale Council, includes a mixture of affordable homes for local people, houses for affordable rent, low-cost home ownership properties, as well as homes for sale on the open market.

The Laureates scheme also includes communal play spaces, a meadow, native hedgerows and tree planting.

Construction is expected to take four years.

Lovell regional director Nigel Yates says: “The scheme has been carefully planned to ensure it is an extension of the existing community while also providing local people with the opportunity to buy a newly built home in the town.”
