Plans for the King Power Stadium / Leicester City Football Club

Leicester City Football Club has submitted a hybrid planning application for the expansion of its King Power Stadium to increase capacity by 8,000 seats to 40,000.

The plans, which have been submitted to Leicester City Council, also include an indoor entertainment arena, 220-room hotel, flats and a club retail store.

The submission follows "extensive" pre-application public consultation, which ran between August and September. The club said the responses were "overwhelmingly positive".

The club first revealed its plans in August. Since then, it has completed the acquisition of a property adjoining the site. This does not form part of the planning application, but the club said it will enable the Foxes to consider its potential for future development "in due course".

It is expected that the city council will determine the project in the first few months of 2022.
