Are you content in your job and with your choice of profession? How do you feel about your working conditions and your opportunities for development? Is remote working affecting the way you work?

These questions and more are at the heart of the 2021-22 Planner Jobs Careers Survey, launched today (7 December).

Our fifth annual survey this year returns to our focus on happiness at work, but with a Covid-related twist provided by the growth of remote working across planning. Over 34 questions - which will take around 11 minutes to answer - we’ll be asking:

  • How you feel about your earnings, career progress and opportunities for development
  • How you feel about your working conditions
  • To what extent you continue to engage in remote working and how you feel about that
  • How your use of technology is changing
  • Whether you feel that planning is an inclusive profession.

The survey is open to RTPI members and four lucky participants will win a £50 Amazon voucher.

The annual survey gives us - and the RPTI - a vital snapshot of the state of careers in the profession. Previous surveys have told us about discrepancies in the workplace experiences of private and public sector planners, the impact of Covid on the wellbeing of planners, how technology is changing the planning profession, training needs and preferences, and so on.

You can read articles reporting and analysing the results of last year's Covid-influenced survey here (overview and Covid impacts), here (wellbeing of planners) and here (planning and health).

The survey is open to RTPI members until Monday 3 January 2022, although we encourage you to take it before Christmas!
