Crosslane Student Developments has lodged proposals for a 12-storey student accommodation block, which is earmarked for a vacant site next to the BT building in Swansea city centre.

The scheme, called the Strand, would house 312 students, and include a rooftop terrace, gym, cinema, a landscaped courtyard, and solar panels.

The brownfield site has been used as a trade waste bin storage compound and a council-managed car park.

In a related but separate move, North Wales developer Watkin Jones has now lodged proposals for a £35 million scheme housing 350 students at Ty Nant, directly opposite Swansea train station, which was previously home to HMRC's valuation office agency.
