Spring Statement 2018: Hammond backs West Midlands to build 215,000 homes in 10 years

Chancellor Philip Hammond has announced that the government has agreed a deal with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) that sees the authority commit to building 215,000 homes by 2030/2031.

The deal has been “facilitated by a £100 million grant from the Land Remediation Fund”. The money will help to buy and clean up land on a number of sites, focused on the Walsall to Wolverhampton corridor, to deliver at least 8,000 homes.
