Spending Round: Cash for decarbonisation, air quality and biodiversity

Chancellor Sajid Javid has committed £90 million to help decarbonise the UK, improve air quality and increase biodiversity in his one-year Spending Round.

Speaking today (4 September), he said a “healthy environment is a precondition for a healthy population”.

Leaving the European Union (EU) provides an opportunity to “set world-leading environmental standards”, he said.
