Solar farm recommended for approval

Solar farm

Plans to build a £6m solar farm in Shropshire have been recommended for approval by council planning officers.

Telford and Wrekin Council intends to install more than 16,000 solar panels on 12 hectares in Hadley, near Telford.
The energy generated is expected to power 1000 local homes, with surplus electricity being fed into the National Grid to make money for the council.
The authority said it had received four letters objecting to the plans.
A report by planning officers said the farm would create "some visual impact" for local residents, adding that it should be "balanced against the provision of a renewable energy generating scheme".
The proposals will go before the council next Wednesday (30 April).
