Revised master plan for key Aberdeen redevelopment approved

Words: Roger Milne

City councilors have approved a revised master plan for the £333 million redevelopment of the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC).

Developer Henry Boot is to build the new AECC along with two hotels and a clean energy power station in Dyce.

That new project will replace the existing centre at Bridge of Don, which is set to become a household waste recycling facility.

The proposed new centre at Rowett North has four times the available space of the existing AECC and would double the seated capacity to 10,000.

The development is projected to bring in more than 31,000 additional business tourists to the north east of Scotland and create hundreds of new full-time jobs.
