Developer Vastint Hospitality has lodged plans with the city council for the second phase of its ambitious mixed-use redevelopment of Edinburgh’s old Fountainbridge Brewery site.

This scheme is creating a new neighbourhood in the city centre located beside the city’s financial district.

These latest proposals involve 234 homes for private rent as well as six commercial units on the site.

The first phase – a landmark office building offering 5,236 square metres of floorspace, a 262-bedroom Moxy hotel and several commercial ground floor units – was approved last summer.

The proposals also involve the formation of a new public space adjacent to the Leamington Lift Bridge which, along with the civic square planned in the first phase, will complete the link from Upper Grove Street to Fountainbridge and reconnect the site to the Union Canal.
