Planning guidance lacks smart energy ambition

Greater national political clarity on the importance of smart energy and climate change is required through planning guidance or a ministerial statement, the RTPI suggests.

The institute's new report, Planning for a Smart Energy Future highlights the lack of attention given to smart energy in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and Planning Practice Guidance (PPG), as well as the gap between what happens on the ground and the opportunities it offers.
