Work on what will be the tallest office block in the Northern Irish capital (and the province) is set to begin in earnest.

Belfast Harbour has just announced that it has awarded the contract to build its £50 million City Quays 3 waterfront scheme to local contractor Farrans Construction.

The16-storey development will provide 250,000 square feet of grade A office floor space and is expected to be completed by the end of 2021. It is being developed to comply with BREEAM Excellent ratings, which will place it in the top 10 per cent of sustainable new buildings in the UK.

The project was approved by the Department for Infrastructure in February under the new powers that allow civil servants to take decisions in the absence of ministers.
