Paramount Park - architect's impression

A proposed theme park in Kent is a project of “national significance”, according to communities and local government secretary Eric Pickles.

The Paramount Park project will now go through the planning inspectorate.
It is set to be built in the Swanscombe peninsula on a 70-acre site of mainly derelict land, as part of a £2bn project.
A spokesman for the Department for Communities and Local Government said that ministers considered the plans “of national significance” due to the likely “economic impact” on the local area and beyond.
The application is expected to be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate April 2015.
