Parliamentary committee troubled by proposed Scottish land register

The Scottish Government has been urged to rethink its approach to land registry in Scotland as much of the country’s land will remain out of the Register of Controlled Interests in Land under current proposals.

The Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform Committee said that in order for the register to be a transparent and accessible system, people should not have to go outside of the system or be required to rely on Freedom of Information requests.

It recommends that the Scottish Government should provide an assurance that all information will be accessed through a single point.
