NPPF must reference beautiful places, says building better commission

The long-awaited report from the Building Better Building Beautiful (BBBB) Commission recommends the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) reference the importance of placemaking and the creation of beautiful places.

The reference should feature in chapters 2 and 12 of the NPPF, with beauty and placemaking seen as "strategic cross-cutting themes”.It's just one of many recommendations in the report, entitled Living with Beauty, and sits under the policy proposition for planning: ‘ask for beauty’. It also calls for references to good design in the NPPF to be replaced with 'good design and beautiful places',........
