Derry councillors approve new school as well as Ebrington development

Derry City & Strabane District Council has approved full planning permission for the development of a new school for Ardnashee School and College on the former Foyle College Junior School lands. Meanwhile, in a separate move, the planning authority has given the go-ahead for a number of applications relating to the Ebrington site in Derry including listed building consent for the alteration and extension of a former military building to provide a bar/restaurant, landscaping, and associated works.

A £2 million environmental challenge fund, launched by environment minister Edwin Poots, is now open for applications from not-for-profit organisations and councils to deliver natural heritage projects that support Covid-19 recovery and green growth across Northern Ireland.

Key Creggan scheme makes progress

Work has started on an ambitious housing and community development project in Derry. Radius Housing is constructing 119 new homes in the Creggan area as part of a project that is set to deliver big improvements at Sean Dolan’s Gaelic Athletic Club, as well as a new multi-use community facility.
