News report: Compact neighbourhoods are key to health of communities

Creating neighbourhoods that use land efficiently with clearly defined public and private spaces are fundamental to the development of healthy new towns, a new report has concluded.

Compact neighbourhoods does not mean that homes should be small or that public spaces should be inadequate.

“Instead, it is about using land efficiently through good design. Homes should meet or exceed the National Described Space Standard,” states the report.
