News report: ‘Boys’ club’ culture is holding back women in planning, research suggests

A widespread boys’ club mentality is limiting women’s opportunities in the workplace, new research by the RTPI suggests.

Women taking part in the study said they felt at a disadvantage in workplaces that overwhelmingly reflected ‘masculine’ cultures and norms of behaviour, and that this was having a concrete effect on their careers.

More than half said they felt their opportunities for promotion were limited because of their gender and close to half said they had experienced sexist or inappropriate comm.....Sign Up or Login to read full article
