New chairman appointed for Land Registry

Greg Clark, secretary for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, has appointed Michael Mire as the new chairman of the Land Registry.

He took up the role today (8 August).

Mire was previously a senior partner at McKinsey & Company, a global management consultancy, where he worked in financial services, retailing and transformation programmes.

Mire is currently a non-executive director of the Care Quality Commission as well being on the board at Aviva plc. He is also a senior adviser to investment bank Lazard.

Business minister Margot James said: “I am pleased to announce Michael Mire as the next chair of Land Registry. Michael will bring a wealth of experience from both the private and public sectors and I look forward to working with him.”

Mire said: “I am privileged to take up the role of chair of Land Registry at such an important time in its long and distinguished history. I look forward to leading the board and ensuring that the organisation continues to deliver on its objectives.”

The Land Registry register the ownership of land and property in England and Wales.
