Natural Capital Committee chair receives knighthood

Professor Dieter Robin Helm CBE has been awarded a knighthood in the Queen’s New Year Honours.

Helm was chair of the Natural Capital Committee, an independent advisory committee that ran from 2012 to December 2020. He has been recognised for services to the environment, to energy and to utilities policy.

Sir David Alan Chipperfield CBE, architect at David Chipperfield Architects, has been given a seat in the Order of the Companions of Honour, which is made up of the sovereign and a maximum of 65 members. He has been recognised for services to architecture.

Three other architects were also recognised in the New Year Honours. Professor Thomas Vincent Emerson, co-founder of 6a Architects was awarded an OBE for services to architecture and education, while Stephanie Macdonald, co-founder of 6a Architects was made an OBE for services to architecture. David Thompson QPM was awarded an MBE for services to architecture and to the community in Norfolk.

Joanna Gabrielle da Silva OBE, director at Arup Group Ltd, has been made a dame for services to engineering and international, sustainable development.
