MSPs urged to rethink finances of Scotland planning bill

RTPI Scotland has urged MSPs to think about the ‘massive’ financial implication of the Planning (Scotland) Bill, which has just completed stage 2 in the Scottish Parliament.

A financial memorandum, published yesterday on the Scottish Parliament website, shows that the total cost associated with the provisions now in the bill following amendment has risen to more than a billion pounds.

RTPI Scotland said the “eye-watering” figures could lead to a planning service that is unable to function properly.
