Move to zonal planning should be backed up by evidence, says Hills

Moving to a zonal planning system in England is a ‘radical move’ and it is ‘essential’ that such a move is backed by a strong evidence base, warns RTPI chief executive Victoria Hills. 

The RTPI’s report Planning Through Zoning sets out the pros and cons of zonal planning. It was authored by Dr Andreas Schulze Bäing and Dr Brian Webb in response to recent plans presented by the UK Government to change England’s planning system from a discretionary one to one governed by regulatory zoning plans.
