Mid & East Antrim Borough Council has launched a new corporate plan which highlights its development priorities.

These include:

  • a bid to secure one of four new logistics hubs for Heathrow Airport at the former Michelin site;
  • redevelopment of Glenarm as a key tourism destination;
  • investment in digital infrastructure across the borough;
  • the development of a new health and wellbeing centre in Ballymena; and
  • redevelopment of St Patrick’s Barracks.

The council is also hoping to benefit through an £80 million injection from the Belfast Region City Deal; this would bankroll redevelopment of The Gobbins cliff-face coastal path as well as a regeneration programme for the town of Carrickfergus.
