MHCLG seeking more viability testing at plan-making stage

Laurence Martindale, head of local infrastructure at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), has explained the department’s continuing work to reform viability assessments at a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Housing and Planning.

During the meeting on the subject entitled ‘How viable are viability tests?’, held last week at Westminster and run by APPG chair Mark Prisk MP, Martindale spoke of MHCLG’S surveying of local authorities on the subject, telling attendees that there was a “real sense” that section 106 planning obligations, and the viability assessments that go with them, ”cause delay to the planning........
