McVey loses job as housing minister

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has asked Esther McVey to leave her post as housing minister as he sets about reshuffling his cabinet.

McVey was asked to be housing minister when Johnson became prime minister in July.

The Tatton MP was previously work and pensions secretary. She held the position between January and November 2018. She has also been an employment minister, parliamentary under-secretary for disabilities, and deputy chief government whip.
