Malthouse advocates strategic planning

Housing and planning minister Kit Malthouse has signalled his support for long-term strategic planning.

He wants local authorities to think not just five years ahead, but to envisage 10, 15, or 20 years ahead.

When thought is given to that far ahead, he said, “you can address all sorts of concerns about infrastructure [and] housing. Show people that your plans are not ad hoc and responsive to a short-term political cycle”.
