Proposals for a new £85 million residential quarter providing at least 400 flats in the heart of the capital have been submitted to Cardiff City Council.

The proposed Kingfisher Quarter is a joint venture between real estate investment firm Angelo Gordon and residential investor and operator Ridgeback Group.

It is the latest residential scheme planned for the Dumballs Road regeneration area, close to the city centre and Cardiff Central Railway Station.

The plan sets out a total of 433 one and two-bedroom flats across two blocks ranging in height from seven to 15 storeys.

The developers have plans for rooftop gardens and at ground-floor level there would be several commercial units surrounding a south facing plaza.

If approved, work could start on site in the second quarter of 2021, with the first units delivered in late 2022.
