Volume builders Anwyl Homes and Bellway have submitted detailed proposals to Flintshire County Council for a new £40 million residential development of 368 new homes at The Airfields on Deeside.

The scheme, which includes affordable housing, public open space and play areas, is earmarked for 12 hectares of land at the former RAF Sealand site.

The companies have exchanged contracts with Praxis, the landowners, who have undertaken remediation and infrastructure works on site.

The joint development will be named Summers Bridge, in recognition of John Summers and Sons, the founders of Shotton Steel, which helped to bring industry and prosperity to the area from the late 19th century.

The proposals are part of a major regeneration scheme at Deeside Airfields, which forms part of the Northern Gateway that sits within the Deeside Enterprise Zone. It is the largest strategic development site in Flintshire.
