Lower Thames Crossing application to be delayed until 2020

Highways England is to delay submitting a major planning application for the Lower Thames Crossing, because it needs more time to analyse responses to its consultation.

The £6.8 billion scheme would be the largest road tunnel in the UK. Highways England had aimed to submit a Development Consent Order application before the end of this year, but will not do so until the summer of 2020 after receiving nearly 29,000 responses.
