Applications for two major residential developments in central Edinburgh have been submitted to the city council.

Private rented housing developer and operator Moda, alongside joint venture partner Apache Capital, has proposed 221 flats in a six-storey block as part of the masterplan for a site in the Fountainbridge district of the capital.

In total, the plan envisages more than 350 new homes.

Meanwhile, in a separate move developer Regency Residential, part of the MCR Property Group, has revealed £30 million plans to convert two former Chesser House council office blocks into flats, including affordable housing and retail and leisure space at ground level.

The 1970s buildings on Gorgie Road will provide a total of 163 flats.
