IT task force to improve information management in development planning in Scotland

Words: Roger Milne

The Scottish Government has confirmed that it will appoint an IT task force to improve information management in development planning and development management.

It will also be looking at innovative techniques like the use of 3D visualisations, both of which are part of its response to the planning review panel’s recommendations.

Additionally, over the summer and autumn the planning team in the Planning and Architecture Division will be working with strategic development plan teams to indentify options for repurposed strategic development planning authorities.

This will take account of their relationship with the National Planning Framework and the wider governance of city region planning, development and infrastructure development.

The government will also work with the island authorities to ensure that options and proposals in both the forthcoming white paper and the promised planning bill are ‘island-proofed’.
