A major residential-led development in the Gorbals area of Glasgow has been approved by the city council.

Regeneration specialist Urban Union secured permission for the third phase of its Laurieston Living scheme.

The site forms part of the wider Transforming Communities initiative – the Glasgow programme that aims to regenerate eight key neighbourhoods across the city.

Architect Stallan-Brand’s plans for this latest phase consist of 349 dwellings, a mixed-use ground floor along the site’s primary edge and the final section of an ambitious civic park for the neighbourhood.

Urban Union will build the development on a site bounded by Eglinton Street, Gorbals Street, Norfolk Street and Cumberland Street.

In the first phase of the development, a total of 364 affordable and private homes were delivered in partnership with New Gorbals Housing Association. Another 190 homes are being developed as part of phase two.
