Developer Gerry Barrett's proposals for the development of over 26,000 square metres of grade A office space overlooking Galway Docks in Galway city centre have been given the go-ahead.

The Bonham Quay scheme involves four blocks ranging in size from 4,820 to 11,845 square metres. The development is expected to accommodate 2,600 employees.

The original scheme proposed for the site was revised significantly with reconfigured public squares and plazas, and the provision of a larger dedicated arts/cultural facility as well as restaurants and retail units.

An Taisce’s Galway branch complained that the scheme contravened the city development plan in terms of residential requirements.
