A special meeting of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority will convene in January to consider consultation on the city region’s revised draft spatial framework.

The move will trigger an eight-week public consultation if the 10 Greater Manchester leaders and mayor Andy Burnham agree.

The consultation had been delayed until the government published details on the new standard method for calculating housing need. Although the government’s consultation on this ends this week, Greater Manchester’s lead for housing, homelessness and infrastructure Paul Dennett said he anticipates going “live with the next phase of the Spatial Framework in mid to late-January next year”.

He added: "Following the first phase of consultation we will then go through a period of analysis. That will consider the responses received from residents within Greater Manchester and other stakeholders. We will then look to consult again in the summer of 2019.”
