Homes England is working with Coventry City Council’s planning officers on residential proposals for a former pumping station site on London Road.

The council allocated the brownfield land for housing to meet the demand after Coventry-based manufacturing businesses expanded.

Homes England said it is keen to retain Whitley pumping station’s historic Victorian legacy. The agency’s involvement in the site is expected to speed up delivery of the projects and the maximum is gained from the development.

Stephen Kinsella, executive director for land at Homes England added: “With a strong demand for new homes in Coventry, we are keen to work collaboratively with partners to ensure that we are meeting the needs of the local community and this is an excellent example of how we are unlocking sites to meet those needs.”

Proposals for the site will be shared with the public over the course of 2019, and planning permission for the new homes, including affordable housing, are also expected be submitted in 2019.
