The former east Belfast campus of the Belfast Metropolitan College could be redeveloped for housing under proposals unveiled by its new owner, the property firm Maple and May.

Under this £4 million proposal, the four-storey former college campus would be converted into 28 flats, with two large annexes demolished.

The developer also wants to build 14 new homes on the Tower Street site, a mix of two-storey town houses and semi-detached properties.

Meanwhile, in a separate but related move, Galgorm Properties has submitted plans to the city council for an 80-flat scheme at a site on Belfast’s Lisburn Road currently occupied by shops, a café and a tyre-fitting workshop and garage.
