Fall in Right to Buy sales in Q3

English local authorities sold an estimated 2,356 dwellings between October and December 2019 (Q3) – a 12 per cent decline on the same quarter in 2018/19.

This is according to a statistical release published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Local Government (MHCLG).

Regarding receipts, local authorities received £211 million in Q3, which is 12 per cent less that the £238.7 million in the same quarter of 2018/19. The average receipt per dwelling was £89,600.

To replace the sold houses, 1,464 dwellings were started on site or acquired. The release states that this is 29 per cent more than the number of dwellings started or acquired in the third quarter of 2018/19.
