An economic strategy for the Mid South West region of Northern Ireland was launched this week focusing on boosting productivity and designed to guide investment to grow the collective economy.

Central to the blueprint are four key elements: future-proofing the skills base, enabling infrastructure, boosting innovation and digital capacity and building a high-performing tourism economy.

The strategy calls for further development of critical road infrastructure; the implementation of a skills action plan; creation of an Agri-Food Robotics Centre; the development of a life and health science opportunity in Carn, Craigavon; and further investment in cross-border assets such as the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark.

This initiative is the result of a collaboration between Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, and Mid Ulster District Council.
