Chief planner’s letter outlines recent changes to England’s planning system

England’s interim chief planner, Dr Michael Bingham OBE, has written to local planning authorities to draw attention to the measures in the Business and Planning Act 2020 to address issues arising as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. 

The act received royal assent on 22 July 2020. It contains a series of urgent measures – most of which are temporary – to help businesses, including those in the hospitality and construction sectors, to get back to work safely and quickly.Here, The Planner has outlined the key points from the letter, which also considers a number of other regulations and changes, such as permitted........
