Central government needs ‘stronger direction’ on climate action, says RTPI

A survey of UK planners has shown that nearly 90 per cent of respondents in the UK want the next government to give ‘stronger direction’ in addressing the climate crisis.

Furthermore, additional resources are required so that local planners can deliver net zero-carbon emissions by 2050.

Victoria Hills, chief executive at the RTPI, pointed out that the government advisory body, the Committee on Climate Change, has acknowledged the role of planners in taking “decisive and effective climate action”.
