Bristol unveils green city toolkit

Words: Laura Edgar

Bristol has unveiled a toolkit at COP21, the 2015 Paris Climate Change Conference, that aims to help cities around the world “go green” by sharing its experience and knowledge about sustainability.

The city, which is co-hosting the Cities and Regions Pavilion at the conference, pledged to act as a role model for other cities around the world when it became the current and first UK city to be named European Green Capital earlier this year.

To do this, Bristol has launched a free online toolkit called ‘The Bristol Method’. It includes information about what the city has learned from its year as European Green Capital.

Mayor of Bristol George Ferguson said the kit is “full of straightforward advice, based on our direct experience”.

It comprises ‘how to’ documents covering a range of topics, including transport and how to increase public transport use, get more people cycling and walking and create “liveable communities”.

The Bristol Method can be found here.
