Appeal: Javid backs inspector on Swindon housing scheme


The communities secretary has granted permission for a 103-home scheme near Swindon after deciding the local authority has failed to demonstrate a supply of housing sites.

Sajid Javid allowed an appeal against Swindon Borough Council’s refusal of the scheme on a 5.7 hectare site on the edge of Wroughton, 4.5km south of the town after agreeing with inspector Neil Pope that the authority had a housing land supply of two and a half years.The secretary of state noted that the proposal would conflict with the Wroughton Neighbourhood Plan adopted in July 2016 as........
