Appeal: Truro retail development will not harm city centre

A retail park has been allowed at Threemilestone outside of Truro’s city centre, despite a number of extant planning permissions in the near vicinity prompting concern about potential impact on the city centre.

The appellants, Marsh & Baxter Developments Limited, Hendra TC, and CP Limited argued that the emerging Cornwall Local Plan Strategic Policies document implicitly accepts that further floorspace will be required in the general area of Truro “simply to maintain its role in the retail hierarchy” to protect the centre from trade diversion to Plymouth and Exeter.Inspector David........
