Appeal: Substantial mixed-use development approved for Isle of Wight


Outline planning permission has been granted for a mixed-use development in Newport, Isle of Wight, after an inspector found that the Isle of Wight Council had acted unreasonably in rejecting the appeal.

The development constitutes 55 dwellings, including sheltered housing, open market and affordable housing, and a GP surgery and community park.Inspector SJ Papworth identified the main issues of the appeal as the effect of the proposed development on the character and appearance of the Isle of Wight Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and on the significance of several designated heritage........
