Appeal: Southport Sainsbury’s will not harm town centre, says Javid


Communities secretary Sajid Javid has supported an inspector’s decision to grant permission for the redevelopment of three retail units to create a Sainsbury’s supermarket, after concluding that this out-of-town development would not harm the vitality of Southport town centre.

Assessing the policy conflict of the scheme, Javid agreed that Sefton Council’s policy concerning preferred location for retail development was out of date in relation to current planning policy.
