Appeal: Somerset homes ruled not adverse to hospital


The development of 55 homes in Wincanton, Somerset, has been approved, despite council concerns that the proposal would affect the safe operation of the adjacent Wincanton Community Hospital.

The NHS sold the land in question to Hopkins Developments Ltd in 1992. Although concerns were raised that the loss of the site would limit any expansion of the hospital, inspector Mike Robins gave no weight to this because of the NHS’s role in selling the land.
