Appeal: Petrol station ruled suitable for rural setting


A petrol filling station has been approved for development in South Woodham Ferrers, Essex, after an inspector found that local need justified development on rural land.

Inspector John Felgate reported that permission had been sought for a petrol station on the site but had been refused on appeal in 1995, and the site had remained undeveloped and unused since then.Felgate noted that this original appeal was rejected partly owing to the site’s position within a surrounding attractive rural landscape.
