Appeal: Orpington mausoleum would not harm highway safety


Permission has been granted for the change of use of two existing buildings to create a mausoleum in Old Hill, Orpington, after an inspector decided that the proposal would not create an unacceptable traffic pattern or be detrimental to highway safety.

Inspector David Smith noted that the proposal involved the creation of a building to contain 690 individual crypts or vaults on a site currently occupied by a garden maintenance company.While the planning application showed details of 40 parking spaces, these plans involved removing a small area of protected woodland and were thus found to be unacceptable.
