Appeal: Need for business space surpasses 'Pilcher effect' in Newquay

Plans for 16 shipping containers on an industrial estate near Newquay, to be converted into serviced live-work units for a German film crew, have been blocked, after an inspector found unacceptable harm to occupants' living conditions and employment land supply.

The appeal relates to land within Prow Business Village, which forms part of the Treloggan Industrial Estate in south-east Newquay. The proposal sought permission for 16 serviced live-work units, made from converted shipping containers but modified to add windows, doors and cladding, giving them a permanent appearance.
