Appeal: Loch-side holiday home would fail to respect landform

A reporter has refused permission for a holiday home on the shores of Loch Etive in North Connel, Scotland, after judging that the scheme would unacceptably extend development into a countryside zone.

Reporter Danny Onn noted that the appeal site on the edge of this inland sea loch currently houses a private jetty and an existing holiday unit. As the new unit would sit higher than these existing structures and be much larger, Onn said this would cause it to become more prominent in views from the loch and draw attention to the site as a whole, increasing the overall impact.
